About this Special Issue
The Geological Society's Earth Science Systems and Society journal is seeking submissions for a new Special Issue focused on the theme of 'Digital Geoscience.' The special issue aims to explore the intersection of digital technology and geoscience, and to showcase innovative research and practical applications in this area.
Digital geoscience is an emerging field that uses digital tools and technologies to advance our understanding of the Earth and its systems. This can include using high-performance computing to model complex geophysical processes, using remote sensing to map geological features, or developing new algorithms to analyze large datasets of geological information. The potential applications of digital geoscience are vast, from predicting natural hazards and understanding climate change to finding new mineral deposits and improving resource management.
The Special Issue on Digital Geoscience is an exciting opportunity to showcase cutting-edge research and innovative applications of digital technology in geoscience. By bringing together researchers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, the special issue will contribute to the growing field of digital geoscience and help to shape its future direction.
The Special Issue welcomes submissions from researchers working in any area of digital geoscience, including but not limited to:
1. Machine learning and artificial intelligence applied to geoscience problems
2. Remote sensing and geospatial analysis
3. Data visualisation and analysis techniques
4. High-performance computing and numerical modelling
5. Geoinformatics and data management
6. Digital fieldwork and virtual reality applications
7. Geoscience education and outreach using digital technology
Papers submitted to the Special Issue should present original research that advances our understanding of digital geoscience and demonstrate how digital technologies can be applied to address important scientific questions and societal challenges. The papers will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field, and accepted papers will be published online in the Earth Science Systems and Society journal.
